The TaiFu™ 30 Altcoin Market Index measures the theoretical market capitalization of the 30 largest cryptocurrencies on any given day (minus Bitcoin or any hard forks of Bitcoin such as Bitcoin Cash). Every 24 hours, a new top 30 is selected to calculate the index. This index helps investors to monitor and measure the overall growth of the overall size of the Altcoin market and is designed to serve as a benchmark for investors to gauge their portfolio performance.
It is possible for investors to track this index but it will not be 100% accurate due to a) the real world cost of slippage, commissions, and taxes and b) it is impractical for an investor to rebalance a portfolio on a daily basis.
